Many years ago, lived one Padishah. He loved to surround himself with all the most beautiful. It could be anything – carpets, gold jewelry, paintings, furniture, buildings, horses and even people in his environment, he chosed for their beauty … not to mention women …

One day, he saw a woman of indescribable beauty, and immediately wanted to take her to the palace itself. Padishah ordered his warriors find out where she lives and who her parents are. The servants brought to the palace the father of the girl. It was the poorest man in the city. And when Padishah told him he wanted to pick up his daughter to the palace, the poorman was very grieved. She was the only native person in this land, and reminded him of his wife that he loved much.

The poorman asked to give him some time to think. Padishah so wanted to get himself his daughter, that has not become nasty and gave him time. After sometime, the poorman said to Padishah “Padishah, every inhabitant of this country knows of your boundless love for the beauty. The beauty of any human is limited with time. Let me create for you something that will be much more beautiful and desirable than my daughter.” Padishah was very surprised and gave him a further 7 days. The poor came home and started thinking. Minutes passed, hours and even days passed, while the poor was not able to imagine something that would exceed the beauty of his daughter.

The poor could not sleep, could not eat, and very soon he had lost hope … After six days, early in the morning on the seventh day, hungry and weary the poor went to the River. He could not live without his beloved daughter and decided to drown. Coming close to the river he stopped. He was not moving for several hours, and only closely watched in astonishment and burning eyes into a river. What he saw astounded him. He saw the answer to the question that tormented him for seven days. He found that exceeded the beauty of his daughter. You know what he saw? In the wide and clean river he saw how reflects the entire beauty of the sky and coastal trees and all shined with golden color of the Sun. That is why ikat is considered to be a reflection of nature and the inner world of its owner. The poorman immediately embodied all he saw reflected in the river at the tissue and showed Padishah. Padishah, as a true connoisseur of beauty, appreciated the beauty of the material created by poorman and grant his daughter freedom and a lot of gold. Since then, father and daughter often walk to the river and enjoy the nature and sky reflection in the river.

So, as you now know, the ikat fabric is the reflection of nature. Its patterns are symbols of the Universe.
